This year's pop-up dyke bar celebrates 50 years of Dykes on Bikes and the radical legacy of Dyke & Lesbian culture that has always been rebellious, efficient, passionate, and impossible to ignore. From motorcycles roaring at the front of Pride parades in the 70s to the Subaru becoming an accidental lesbian icon of the 90s, the evening embraces the symbols, stories, and stereotypes that generations of Dykes & Lesbians have (re)claimed, reshaped, and made unmistakably our own.
Expect a playful nod to fuel-efficient hatchbacks, motorcycle jackets, emotional intelligence, cargo pockets, rescue dogs, expensive houseplants, tattoos, collective problem-solving, and the remarkable Dyke / Lesbian ability to become both your emergency contact and your moving crew in record time.
The evening will feature a social hour with drink specials, karaoke, a dance party to close out the night, and probably a motorcycle or two.
The MuffDiver continues to create identity specific intentional spaces for the Lesbian, Dyke, and Sapphic community on PEI while embracing the humour, history, and joy that make queer culture uniquely our own.
A strict zero-tolerance policy for TERF behaviour will be in effect throughout the event (& forever after).
