Queer Poetry Club

  • PEITN Office 119 Kent Street Charlottetown, PE, C1A 1N3 Canada (map)

What is Queer Poetry Club? Queer Poetry Club is a space for members of the queer community to read, write and listen to poetry in a safe and supportive environment. Who can attend? Queer Poetry Club is open to all members of the queer community. When/where do you meet? We meet from 2-4pm on the first Saturday of every month in the PEITN office on the 5th Floor of BDC Building (There’s an elevator!) (119 Kent Street, Room 505). Are materials provided? Basic writing materials are provided, and you are also welcome to bring your own. What about snacks? Yes, small snacks are provided! Please let us know if you have preferences or dietary restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate.

How much does it cost? Queer Poetry Club is completely free to attend and is volunteer led. What do you do in sessions? We begin sessions with introductions and anything group members want to share.

We then invite members to share poetry (either their own or from other poets they like); once members have shared all they wanted to share, we take some time to write poetry. I don’t want to read or write poetry, but I still want to take in the poetry vibes; can I join? Of course! There is no requirement to read/write poetry to join us; you can simply listen and relax or whatever feels right for you! There are some fidgets and a comfy couch that you’re welcome to use. How do I find out more? Email queerpoetryclub@proton.me.
