Pride Fest’25 SCHEDULE

Welcome to the Gaybourhood - Exhibit Opening
‘Welcome to the Gaybourhood’ is a vibrant celebration of what ‘home’ signifies for the queer 2SLGBTQ+ community across the island. This collaborative exhibition aims to foster a sense of belonging within this larger community, emphasizing the shared connection to the places
we all call home. Participating artists will receive a flat wooden ‘house’ cutout to serve as their canvas. They are encouraged to utilize any artistic medium of their choice—such as paint, poetry, collage,
linocut, photography, textiles, and more—as long as it can be hung and displayed on the wall throughout the exhibition week. This approach allows for a diverse range of artistic expressions, reflecting the varied and rich experiences of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The exhibition will feature all the completed houses displayed together, creating a
‘gaybourhood map’ that represents what ‘home’ means to the 2SLGBTQ+ community here on Epekwitk. This collective piece of art will highlight the individual and communal aspects of home, providing a powerful visual narrative of belonging and identity.
Those interested in participating are invited to submit an expression of interest to obtain a house. Official event submissions, which should include your created piece or intended idea along with artist information, will be due by Sunday, July 20th. This ensures ample time for preparation and display during the exhibition.
There will also be a drop-in maker space available during the opening and closing events. This space offers attendees the chance to create their own houses and add them to the ‘gaybourhood’ at the event. This inclusive activity encourages community involvement and enhances the collaborative spirit of the exhibition.

Martin continues to travel across North America to speak about his story and advocacy work. He will be joined by friend and speaker Jeremy Dias, founder of the international anti-bullying movement Pink Shirt Day.
This event will also include musical performances from ECMA award-winner Noah Malcolm and the PEI Transgender Network Queer Choir.

What’s Eating You?
Sometimes it takes an apocalypse to find yourself…
Join us on Tuesday, July 29th at The Guild for a dramatic staged reading of What’s Eating You? by local trans playwright and activist Jay Gallant performed by a stellar cast of local actors. The play follows the journey of a trans man confronting his gender identity in middle age while navigating a complex reunion with an estranged childhood friend. As zombies close in, the script serves up a compelling tale of survival, self-empowerment, and forgiveness—with just the right dose of undead mayhem.
There will be a Q&A session following the reading where the audience will be invited to ask questions and chat with the playwright and actors.
Come on out and celebrate Pride by supporting local queer artists!
