Walk For Me: An Introduction to Ballroom Culture and Vogue is a participatory workshop exploring the history, language, and movement traditions of ballroom culture. Rooted in Black and Latine queer and trans communities, ballroom is a living world with its own aesthetics, kinship structures, and forms of care. This workshop introduces participants to that world: where it came from, how it works, and what it has to teach us about community, belonging, and survival.
No dance experience is required. Participants will learn foundational vogue movement, explore ballroom terminology and categories, and leave with a grounded understanding of the culture and its ongoing significance. This workshop is best understood as an invitation to show up, pay attention, and move your body.
Please note: this workshop engages with ballroom culture in its full context, which includes coarse language.
Open to ages 16 and up. Space is limited to 20 participants.
