This Town Is Small is excited to invite you to the opening reception for Resurfacing, an exhibition of works by Anna Karpinski, Leo Xin Liu, and Lucas Morneau.
Resurfacing is an exhibition of work that subverts expectations around “Canada’s favourite pastime,” hockey. Portraits of young players on and off the ice, gestural paintings that allude to the action of a game, and the memorabilia of a fictional, fantastical hockey league pose questions about the culture within the sport, as it shifts alongside broader conversations about gender, masculinity, inclusion, and identity.
This event is free and open to all ages. We look forward to celebrating with you! There will be a cash bar for alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic drinks and snacks will be offered free of charge.
This event will take place at This Town Is Small’s Gallery space at The Arts Guild. The venue’s front left door on Queen Street has an automatic door opener button, and staff operate an elevator lift to provide accessible movement between the lobby and the gallery level downstairs.
There is a gender neutral washroom located behind the gallery, which has a wide corridor and grab bars. The Guild has washrooms upstairs open to guests as well.
An Access Station is located at the gallery entrance, stocked with sensory tools and toys designed to support a positive experience for neurodivergent and neurotypical visitors alike.
